Children of the Sun

Chemistry student Martin spends all night long in the laboratory and does good work. Still, he is pressured by his professor and, as a result, is utterly exhausted.
Nora, a single mother, is struggling to cope with a demanding job of looking after her two-year-old son. When Nora's mother takes the little boy on a trip to the seaside, Nora has a feeling of great emptiness. She decides to take her life into her own hands...
On her way to an open air festival in the forest, Nora meets Martin, who is stuck at a small railway station, and persuades him to take a trip through the night that will change their lives.

Neuer Geist für alte Mauern
Dokumentarische Auftragsarbeit für den Förderverein Kloster Flechtdorf e.V.

Die alten Mauern der ehemaligen Benediktinerabtei im Nordhessischen Flechtdorf blicken zurück auf 900 Jahre bewegte Geschichte: Wallfahrtsort, wichtiger Knotenpunkt auf der Handelsstraße von Frankfurt nach Bremen und bedeutendes Zentrum für Kultur und Bildung in der Region. Doch das mittelalterliche Gemäuer geriet in Vergessenheit und fiel in tiefen Dornröschenschlaf. 2007 gründete eine bunt gemischte Gruppe aus Anwohnern und Enthusiasten einen Verein mit dem Ziel, die alten Mauern mit neuem Leben zu füllen. Bis zu 40 Bildungsgäste und Wanderer sollen in einer Herberge Platz finden und es sind Räumlichkeiten für Seminare und Tagungen geplant. Kloster Flechtdorf soll wieder neu erblühen als ein Ort für Kultur und Bildung, Kunst und Musik.
Der Film „Neuer Geist in Alten Mauern“ ist Teil der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit des Fördervereins Kloster Flechtdorf e.V. mit dem Ziel, Spenden und Fördermittel für das anspruchsvolle Kulturprojekt zu akquirieren. Das Interesse an Kloster Flechtdorf hat sich seitdem vervielfacht, die ersten Fördergelder sind geflossen, die Bauarbeiten haben begonnen…

Die Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaft und Kunst in Hildesheim betreibt zahlreiche Werkstätten, in denen Studenten des Fachbereichs Gestaltung vielseitige Fähigkeiten erlernen können: Bearbeitung von Metall in der Schwarz- und der Silberschmiede, Schmuckdesign in der Goldschmiede, Bearbeitung von Holz in der Holzwerkstatt oder Modellbau in der Kunststoffwerkstatt.
Fünf Infovideos beschreiben diese Werkstätten – Ausstattung, Abläufe und die Angebote für die Studierenden werden erläutert. Die Videos wurden für die Homepage der Hochschule gefertigt und sind dort zu sehen.

Das grüne Herz von Hersfeld
Dokumentarfilm für die Stadt Bad Hersfeld

und die Firma NH Projektstadt über die Innovationsmaßnahme auf dem ehemaligen Babcock-Areal in Bad Hersfeld

Nach mehr als 100 Jahren Industrie- geschichte geht die Ära der Benno Schilde Maschinenfabrik in Bad Hersfeld zu Ende. Einst brachte das Werk der Stadt Arbeit und Wohlstand, doch die Nachfolgeunternehmen sind an den Stadtrand gezogen. Mitten im Herzen Bad Hersfelds bleibt eine 5,5 Hektar große, komplett überbaute Industriebrache zurück, mit der keiner mehr etwas anfangen kann. Was tun? Die Stadtväter stehen vor einer Herausforderung – zusammen mit visionären Planern treffen sie eine mutige Entscheidung: Nicht finanzkräftige Investo- ren, sondern die Stadt selbst kauft das Gelände und gestaltet es um, nicht Wohnungen oder Kaufhäuser sollen an die Stelle der Industriebauten treten, sonder eine grüne Parklandschaft für Bürger und Besucher. In vier denkmalgeschützte Backsteinbauten aus der Gründerzeit sollen Bildung und Kultur einziehen. Innerhalb von drei Jahren müssen 34 Gebäude zurückgebaut, 22.000 Quadratmeter versiegelter Fläche aufgebrochen und ein Bach freigelegt werden. Über 30 Millionen Euro soll die Baumaßname kosten. Am Ende wird inmitten der Stadt eine moderne, grüne Oase entstanden sein. Bad Hersfeld setzt ein Beispiel für zukunftsorientierte Stadt- entwicklung.
OstWestFilm ist beauftragt, die schrittweise Umsetzung des Projekts über drei Jahre hinweg zu dokumentieren. Es wird daraus ein 30minütiger Dokumentarfilm entstehen, der als Imagefilm und als Beispiel für gelungene zukunftsorientierte Stadtentwicklung dienen wird.

Lena Geller, born 1977 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. In her hometown she gained a Master’s degree in History. Since 2006 she has studied film directing under Prof. Yana Drouz and Prof. David Safarian at the School of Art and Design in Kassel, Germany.
Matthias Becker, born 1979 in Kassel, studied dramatics and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin and Humboldt University of Berlin and worked for different TV production companies. Since 2004 he has studied film directing under Prof. Yana Drouz and Prof. David Safarian at the School of Art and Design in Kassel, Germany.

"You Are Everything" is a Goa road movie, inspired by our love for Psychedelic trance, for the sun, nature and a sense of unity. It is a film about the power of positive energy and the will to seek happiness and to find it.
The Goa and hippie movement has become a global phenomenon; its values and beliefs go back to the ancient knowledge of mankind and are a chance for our future. "You Are Everything" is about people who have awoken, got rid of unnecessary restrictions and finally do what they really want.

"You Are Everything"

"You Are Everything" is a declaration of love for the Goa trance culture, but also, finally, a film that displays the electronic music scene not as negative and menacing, but as positive and inspiring. The hope is, that people will put away their prejudices against Goa-trance and electronic music and feel the power and energy through the rhythm, because dancing is dreaming with the body.

"You Are Everything" is planned as a feature film and will be shot in summer and autumn 2011. In order to make the film we are looking for support of any kind: locations, contacts with festivals, financing and also advice and discussion. We will be happy to hear from you.
